Christmas was so busy I’ve only just had time to catch up to tell you about the 2022 World Cheese Awards.
It is my 8th year as a World Cheese Award Judge and this year took me to lovely Wales to judge the best cheeses from across the world
A truly global cheese event, World Cheese brings together cheesemakers, retailers, buyers and food commentators worldwide to judge over 4,000 cheeses from over 40 countries. The World Cheese Awards took place in Wales, supported by the Welsh Government, on 2 November.
I’ve been a judge since 2015 and have had the privilege of tasting some of the best cheeses in the world plus the chance to visit some cheese makers in many different countries. It really is a truly global cheese event. World Cheese brings together cheesemakers, retailers, buyers and food commentators worldwide to judge over 4,000 cheeses from over 40 countries.
I judge alongside many of my colleges from the cheese world as well as friends in the food industry such as James Golding of the pig hotel group and Dhruv Baker - Master chef winner and owner of the incredible Tempus Charcuterie
The World Cheese Awards took place in Newport, Wales, supported by the Welsh Government, on 2 November.
On my table i had 70 cheeses from across the world including the amazingly delicious winner - Le Gruyère AOP, entered by Swiss cheesemaker Vorderfultigen and affineur Gourmino, scoop the highest accolade, World Champion Cheese.
