Included in The Great British Cheese Board :
Colston Bassett Stilton
Stilton’s origins date back to the 18th century when it was eaten at The Bell Inn, Stilton. Now a protected cheese, Stilton can only be made in the counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. Colston Bassett Stilton is often considered to be the best. Little has changed since they started making cheese in 1913, and they still use the milk from four of the original local farms that set up the co-operative in the beginning.
The Stilton we sell is from Colston Bassett Dairy in Nottingham, in our opinion the best producer there is. Colston Bassett Stilton is aged to three months and has a natural rubbed rind. This crumbly cheese with its even blue veins is very creamy with a lasting bite. Award winning intensely rich and creamy Stilton , with a deep, lingering, complex flavour. Our best selling blue cheese.
A creamy, white bloomy-rind cheese handmade on the Fen Farm by Jonny and the team, from their own raw Montbeliarde cows milk. It has a smooth silky texture and a golden curd, with long lasting warm earth, farmyard and mushroom flavours.
We’re rather excited about this cheese. It is the only traditional raw milk Brie-de-Meaux style cheese produced in the UK. In fact, even the French would be jealous, as cheese is one of only a handful of its type in the world to be made by the farmer on the farm and can genuinely be called a true farmhouse Brie. Using a traditional recipe passed on to Fen Farm by a French cheese maker, they have set about making what they believe to be something very special.
Graham Kirkham has taken over from his mother to make the Lancashire on Lower Beasley farm. Made to traditional recipes Kirkham’s Buttered Lancashire is the finest there is. It has a moist yet crumbly texture and a smooth milky flavour with a lemony after taste. The texture of Kirkham's has a beautiful crumble, a wonderful raw milk farmhouse Lancashire
In our opinion the best Cheddar ever, and only one of very few that are made to traditional recipes and deserving of the cheddar name. Montgomery is made by Jamie Montgomery on his farm in North Cadbury, and he has been supplying us with it for nearly 14 years. In fact before him we bought it from his mother! Jamie is so committed to keeping Montgomery at its best with its unique flavour that he only breeds within his own herd and although his cheese is becoming very famous he still attends to it personally to make sure everything is just so.
In honour of this glorious board we have created a British Cheese Board, this cheese platter idea is a way you can both present a delicious spread to your guests and wow them with you presentation.
